Štětí to Kokořín area bike tour
Take a cycling trip to the border of the Ústí nad Labem and Central Bohemia regions to the popular tourist area of Kokořínsko. The trip is slightly over 40 km long and can be done even by moderately fit cyclists.
Start your ride in Štětí in the Hněvice quarter, taking cycle route 8249 across the bridge and up a stiff climb to Stračí. From there, follow the yellow trail, which leads to a Marian chapel and a cool bandits’ cave, Mordloch. You’ll pass lots of rock formations on this route, including the Serpent, the Sphinx and the Harpist. Continue along the yellow trail to Želizy, where the Devils’ Heads rocks demand a quick visit (leave your bike behind). From the village, continue on the route 8249 towards Mělník for a look at the castle, the underground passages and the tower viewpoint at the Church of Saints Peter and Paul. There’s also a nice view from the nearby Vráz outlook and from the terrace directly below. From Mělník it’s a straight ride along the river on the Elbe Cycle Route back to Hněvice.
