On Wednesday 11 May, the 15th certification committee awarded the ČESKÉ STŘEDOHOŘÍ Regional Product label to a total of five applicants. The certificate was awarded to Lanýž beer, Tergus liqueur wine, cow and goat cheese from Merboltice, the HistoryPark Ledčice experience complex and Jan Marek's woodworking courses How to make wood.
The Commission met for the fifteenth time in the Diocesan House in Litoměřice, where the Destination Agency České středohoří is also located, to discuss new applications for the regional label and its renewal.
Three producers and two establishments offering a regional experience, which is very interesting for visitors, applied for the ČESKÉ STŘEDOHOŘÍ Regional Product. At the same time, the certificate was renewed for the second time for Mr Chovaneček for his excellent prosciutto and fermented smoked products, as well as for his lamb. The second renewal was awarded to Mr Lípa from Podřipské pivovar from Ctiněvsi for his light lager 11 and Wheat Beer, as well as an experiential event - the Roudnice Kosht, which will take place this year on 11 June in the outdoor areas of the Lobkowicz castle.
And who took the new brand?
Liqueur wine TERGUS
From the local family winery Mikulenkovi from Velké Žernosky. The wine is made from the red Dornfelder variety by light fining and subsequent maturation for at least a year in oak barrels. Its white variant is made from the Müller Thurgau variety. Both wines are ideal when paired with good chocolate. You can enjoy them directly at the winery or order them on their e-shop.
BEER LANIS
The microbrewery from the estate Dvůr Perlová voda has received a second new certificate. Lanýž beer is sold both top-fermented and bottom-fermented in various degrees. Its uniqueness and specific flavour profile is due to the water used in its production. It comes from its own borehole, about 60 metres deep in limestone bedrock, which makes the water very hard and mineral.
COW AND GOAT CHEESES FROM MERBOLTICE
It is handmade by Mrs. Šancová in her farm Pod Strážným vrchem in a listed village. The milk comes from her own animals, especially from the high-fat Jersey dairy cow breed. The 'bucket' type cheeses are hand-pulled into other forms - strings, rings or as jadels and parenica. The goat's milk is then used to make cheeses flavoured with the cheese's own herbs or garlic in the form of jervé or balkanes.
Experiences came next!
Experiences are what tourists are looking for during their visits. They don't just want a product, they want to experience something. This time, two candidates were awarded the certificate.
HOW TO WOOD
Carpentry courses of Mr. Jan Marek also from Merboltice in the heart of the Bohemian Central Highlands. Weekend courses for up to 6 people are a real treat. Not only because of what people learn here - that is, how to make furniture so that it lasts for ages without screws and bolts, but also they relax a lot. They are accommodated right in Mr Mark's cottage itself, which is a listed building, and are well looked after. Delicious home-cooked cuisine with a range of regional foods, evening gatherings by the fire or in the picturesque attic of the property.
HISTORYPARK
Ledčice is a fun area near Mount Říp, which is an experience for the whole family. It is an archeo park where not only children but also adults can try this interesting work on their own or with an archeologist lecturer. They can uncover a grave, find and classify the found things - pottery, tools or weapons, but they can also try to make many things themselves. A stone axe made just by purely hand-cutting, that'll give a grown-up a hard time. Part of the facility is a bistro where you can buy, among other things, a gingerbread mammoth from Mrs. Nebeska's Podřipské gingerbread house and sit in peace.
We wish all the branders good luck and welcome them to our family - ČESKÉ STŘEDOHOŘÍ Regional Product!
