The development of the activities of the České středohoří destination was discussed at the Board of Directors

On Friday, 18 February 2022, the 29th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Destination Agency České středohoří, o. p. s. took place at its headquarters in Litoměřice. The Ústí nad Labem Region is one of the founders of the Destination Agency and makes a significant contribution not only to the running of the Agency, but also to the co-financing of other subsidy projects implemented within the framework of valid strategies.

The Board of Trustees is headed by Tomáš Rieger, a councillor of the Ústí nad Labem Region since 2021, who, thanks to his years of experience in the Terezín Memorial, knows the internal needs of tourism development and is continuously assisted by the Board and the Ústí nad Labem Region Council to develop the destination.

"On the agenda of the meeting were individual development projects in addition to administrative matters and the budget for this year. In the spring, the construction of the model stellplatz in Velemín, which is co-financed by the Ústí nad Labem Region, will be completed. At the same time, the social and accommodation facilities on Milešovec Mountain, where the destination agency already operates hospitality services and the Veberova emergency room and takes care of the peak as a whole, have been completed," said Tomáš Rieger, chairman of the board and councillor of the Ústí nad Labem Region.

"With the support of the Ministry for Regional Development and a special-purpose subsidy from the Ústí nad Labem Region, a marketing project is ready to be implemented this season combining several types of media and attracting visitors to the hills of the Central Highlands, cycling or boating to the Elbe River and buying local products under the regional brand of the České středohoří. It includes thepromotion of established and new tourism products - the Litoměřice Church Monument Circuit, the Baroque Triangle in the Garden of Bohemia, Countless Beauties, One Name... and others," added Luděk Jirman, director of the destination agency.

A Smart Destinations project is being prepared with similar support, which aims to obtain data about visitor traffic and visitor needs, including visitor behaviour. The data will be used to plan both "hard" and "soft" activities in future years. The pilot sites were selected as: the Lake Milada near Ústí nad Labem, the Milešovka and Říp mountains and the fortress town of Terezín. Data from the Elbe Trail and information centres and other sources are linked automatically.

The possibilities of using the Fair Transformation Fund for the development of tourism services and the necessary accompanying infrastructure in cooperation with voluntary associations of municipalities in Litoměřice were also discussed. At the same time, "cultural tourism" projects and their possible involvement in the Creative Ústí Region project were discussed.

Last but not least, the board members dealt with tourist transport - not only with the destination cyclobus and its integration into the Transport of the Ústí nad Labem Region, but also with the integration of selected Elbe ferries and the streamlining of the offer of boat transport financed by the Transport of the Ústí nad Labem Region. In order to promote cycling between the peaks, a new cycle route from Verneřicko towards the Elbe Trail in the Děčín, Úštěcko and Štětsko regions will be signposted with the support of the region.

For the first time, a representative of the Statutory City of Ústí nad Labem, which has been involved in the Agency's activities in the ordinary matters of marketing and materials, but is now involved in and financially in order to actively participate in future destination agency projects that have an impact for the development of tourism in the regional town and its surroundings.

In the framework of cooperation with the city of Ústí nad Labem, the maintenance of the Elbe Trail, a key tourism product owned by the city, was dealt with in the length of over 20 km out of a total of 90 km in the territory of the region. Most of the cycle path is managed by the Ústí Region's contributory organisation Krajská majetková, p.o., in cooperation with the destination agency. A part of the Ploučnice cycle path is also under its management.
