On Saturday 25th September, Prokop Street in Bezděkov was lively. A small gallery of the Podřipské lace makers' association was opened here. There was a programme for children, talks about textile crafts and the highlight of the programme was the opening of the exhibition of Podřipské bobbin lace called Enchanted by Lace. Podřipské lace makers led by Ivanka Špundová presented their delicate creations. Podřipská bobbin lace is a certified regional product and our region is honoured at various exhibitions. The art of bobbin lace is something truly extraordinary, so it is not surprising that the exhibition received much admiration and praise. And those who wanted to could try what it is like to sit down at the herdle and pick up the bobbins.
It was cheerful not only in the gallery, but also all around. The ladies from the Senior Citizens Club got to work in the garden and spent the whole day showing everyone how Kiwanis dolls are made. In front of the gallery and in the gallery there was sitting, eating, drinking, feasting... and there was plenty of goodwill too.
There was not only bobbin weaving, but also lace sewing, scrubbing, or special weaving with the help of so-called karetek. Dozens of people passed through the gallery during the day and left satisfied with a smile on their faces.
