The Labe trail in section Štětí - Roudnice - Terezín - Litoměřice
The starting point for this trail can be found in Štětí (Hněvice). From here our journey will follow left bank of Labe to Roudnice nad Labem. Marked trail no. 2 runs along the main road to Račice, where we pass the rowing channel known from world championships and competitions in canoeing, rowing and fishing. From there we continue through Záluží and Dobříň, which is the birthplace of Josef Hora, all the way to Roudnice.
Roudnice nad Labem is a scenic city with a strong historical tradition dating back to the 12th century. Dominant feature of the area is the mountain Říp (456 m), which can be reached by the marked red or blue tourist route. Lately here at Podřipsko area there is a significant development of tourism in the form of opening sights (e.g. Hláska tower, which offers a magnificent view of the Podřipsko and part of the České středohoří, Lobkowiczký chateau which invites you to regular tours, Romanesque castle offering tours and brings to you the atmosphere of Roudnice wine tradition and many other attractions).
Adults as well as small visitors will find attractive the seasonal weekend trips by historical train, on usually unused transport route from Podřipsko through Budyně nad Ohří, Mšené-lázně, Libochovice and Hazmburk castle.
For walking, you can use popular cyclobuses to tourist destinations Mukařov (Buková hora), Kletečná, Kokořínsko, Doksy. From Roudnice nad Labem we can go on the left and right banks of the Elbe. Given that on the right bank you go mainly along rural roads (through Lounky), we recommend to use the left bank roads instead. Here you can use advantages of bicycle routes no. 3102, which from Hrobce village follows the less busy road in direction Libotenice – Nučničky – České Kopisty – Terezín.
During this tour you can visit gallery of Kraslice or the church St. Kateřina in Libotenice (ferry Nučničky – Nučnice, with refreshment). In Nučničky the alternative is to cross with the ferry to the right bank and to Litoměřice, but we go further along the left bank, up to Terezín.
In Terezín you can see primarily remarkably preserved military fortifications - Malá and Velká pevnost and Ghetto Museum. Furthermore, various events are held here in the form of tours through the underground tunnels. Also visit new car museum (Automuzeum) with exhibits dating from the 50s to the end of 80s of the 20th century. Or maybe you just want to enjoy golf center in Kotlina Terezín.
From Terezín it's just imaginary step into the last stop of our tour - Litoměřice. Town Litoměřice is also called royal city or as the Garden of Bohemia. Worth mentioning is certainly a gothic castle, reconstructed in the years 2007 - 2011 within the project Tabernacle of the Czech viticulture, offering exposure of winery and multifunctional spaces.
Its historic charm will also offer central Mírové square, where we find the baroque Church of All Saints, historic houses Kalich, Black Eagle, The Five Virgins or town hall in Saxon renaissance style, which today houses the Ethnographic Museum. Litoměřice boasts the largest underground in Bohemia, from which 366 m long section is accessible, and the Regional lapidary museum is located there.
The view provides a small tower Mostka (276 m) or nearby Kočka (271 m). From Litoměřice you can also use the previously mentioned cyclobus even for hikers, or historic trains transport – lines Středohorský and Švestková.
